🌸桜が過ぎ、ハナミズキの白い花が咲きだすと、銀杏の芽がいっせいに吹き出します。
火曜日の午後は仕事はなく、2年ぐらい続けているYCU Extension Class があり、シューマンの音楽についてのお話しでした。この講座は聴講希望者が多くいつも大満足の内容です。今日はRuckertのところだったので美しい歌曲「献呈」についてのお話もありました。

白い山桜が咲く季節 at YCU

3月の暖かい日のあとに肌寒い日が続き桜の開花が遅れていた。入学式の4/5、華やかなキャンパスに白くたおやかに咲いた白いサクラ。”ヤマザクラ”とさりげない表示がついている。でも、そのさりげない名前でも私には懐かしい響きだ。 近づくとその香り、ヤマザクラの野の香り。そのかそけき香りに遠い昔の日々と自分を思い出す。
飽かず眺めていたら、文系研究棟から出てきた先生のような人が「きれいですね」と話しかけてくれた。何だかうれしく良い春の日だった。

★ Ashmolean and the Y.M.A.

何かはじまるといいなぁ！！(3/18)
In Oxford we have a wonderful museum called the Ashmolean which has a very fine Japanese collection. I was greatly privileged to attend a private viewing of this with numerous Japanese friends (mostly from *** University) around 12 years ago.
I would love to help stimulate cooperation between the Y*** M*** of Art and the Ashmolean and wanted to see if this is potentially of interest for you.
I will be meeting the head of the Japan collection in the coming few weeks and will have a clearer idea of their interest at that stage, however I understand among other things they are arranging a special Japan exhibition here to coincide with the Tokyo Olympics.
That may provide an opportunity to work together. I believe also they are considering putting that exhibition on tour and again there may be something of mutual interest in jointly arranging such touring exhibitions.
I am also aware that the Ashmolean had limited display space at the museum here (paradoxically it was reduced following a major expansion and refurbishment of the museum). I am not sure whether that is a solvable matter or not but I will learn more when I meet the museum soon.
It would be for me a matter of great pride if I can help to facilitate a relationship between you and the Ashmolean and if it is of interest to you I really hope to work with you on this.
YCUにも春。入試合格発表。

仕事では特に問題もない日々。気がついたら今日は一般入試の合格発表の日だった。（もしかしたら、昨日だったかも。何故なら発表の前にほとんど人はいなかった。）
銀杏並木どおりは、まだ冬のまま。でも大きな木の根本には・・・・やっぱり、ちゃんと春が来ていた。

もうすぐ取り壊しになる, YCU「RIKA-KAN」

「研究室はどこですか？」⇒「理科館」
YCUで最も古くなり、エントランス・ドアも何だか開くのか開かないのか（開くけど）。住んでる人たちもなんだか怪しげ。実験室と研究室がぎっしり詰まっていて、その研究室も30㎡に”5人”みたいな信じられない部屋もある。その中に教授「様」も一緒にいたりする。でも、みんな互いの研究室を知っていたり、アットホームな感じがああり、理科館の住人であることを誇りに思っているようだ。エントランス付近の掲示板には数年前のポスターがそのまま貼ってあっても、だれも気にしていない（？）
そのRIKAKANがついに新館へ引っ越すことになり、その名称も「理学研究棟」となって、もう立派にできている。RIKAKANの隅っこにあった温室はどうなるのだろう。夏にはほのかにフェンネルが香って好きだった・・・。
＜理科館の雄姿＞
構内に、今は白梅が咲き、黄色い水仙の数も増えてきた。
大学の「卒業生担当」が発行したニュースレターにも、あの❝理科館”がなくなることを惜しむ声があった！！古いものは何んとなく懐かしい。

“Kimuchi Gathering” at YCU

It was a snowy evening. Inside the YCU, at an office, six people gathered and had fun time together with kimuchi dumpling, goota cheese, sliced beef, Korean rice crackers and wine from South Africa. There were six from China, France, Italy (2), Korea and Japan(me). Interesting conversation about their research, books, study abroad things, the “Netherland Scond” video, costco and many! I may remember it for many years from now.
