コンサートはいつも楽しい。サイン会があるとなお嬉しい！

今回は、Paavoさんの故国エストニアの作曲家アルヴォ・ペルト(Arvo Part）（「タルト学派」・・・「エストニアを知るための５９章」小森宏美著より）の作品を取り上げた。”日本人にとってのTakemitsuだ”と書いてあったが、そのように心に残る旋律と曲調だった。

サイン会を目指して行ってるわけではないけれど、この頃サイン会が増えたと思う。

(Me) I was so impressed by the short piece of music by Part.

(Paavo) Oh really? Thank you.

(Me)  Yes！Even it was new to me, I like it very much!

(Paavo) Do you think so？Good to know that.

（初演だったけどBravoはなかったので、 ちょっと気にしてた（と推測）パーヴォさんが嬉しそうにしておられました。 サインを求める人がズラーッと並んでいるので早口で話しました。Paavoさんも小さ い声で早口でした。とても楽しい時間でした。

　「東条碩夫のコンサート日記」より
　　　ＮＨＫホール　　６時

　Ａ定期。
　ペルトの「シルエット━━ギュスターヴ・エッフェルへのオマージュ｣（日本初演）、トゥールの「アコーディオンと管弦楽のための《プロフェシー》」（同、ソロはクセニア・シドロヴァ）、シベリウスの｢交響曲第２番｣というプログラム。

　パーヴォ・ヤルヴィが首席指揮者になって以降━━デュトワ音楽監督時代以来久しぶりに、と言おうか━━Ｎ響定期にもこのような斬新なプログラミングが現われるようになったのは歓迎すべきことであろう。
　エストニアの２人の作曲家による２つの現代曲も、いずれも透き通るような清澄さを湛えた美しい作品だし、所謂「現代音楽嫌い」のお客さんにもストレートに受け入れられたのではないかと思う。
　エストニアとフィンランドの音楽が好きな私も━━この２つの国の名だけを並べて挙げても、特に見当外れと言われることはあるまい━━今日のプログラムは大変心に響くものであった。

　とはいえ、後半には、本当はニールセンの交響曲でもやってもらいたかった、というのが本音なのだが、独特の好みを持った聴衆で固められているＮ響の定期としては、そこまでの選曲は無理なのであろう。
　しかし、今日のシベリウスの「第２交響曲」は、パーヴォ・ヤルヴィとＮ響が、もう完全に良きコンビとして固い絆を結ぶのに成功した、ということを示す演奏ではなかったか？　

　響きのドライなこのＮＨＫホールで、これだけ翳りの濃い、重厚でありながら鈍重なところは少しも無い音を響かせたのは、たいしたものだと思う。特に終楽章のコーダで、全管弦楽が一体となって、あたかも深い霧の奥から響いて来るようなくぐもった音色で頂点を築いたのは、見事なものだった。
　いかなるスペクタクルな、力感で押し切った演奏よりも、このような陰翳豊かなシベリウスのほうが、心に響く。

まだ寒い日が続き、時々雪が降る。でもベランダにはメジロが来るようになった。みかんを目指してヒヨドリも来て、お目当ての蜜柑ががないと、「無いよ！」うるさくさえずる。

 

 

盆栽は２鉢になった。新しく大宮盆栽村で買ってきたボケの方は元気。葉が落ちてるザクロは、まだ芽吹く気配がない。

It was a snowy evening. Inside the YCU, at an office, six people gathered and had fun time together with kimuchi dumpling, goota cheese, sliced beef, Korean rice crackers and wine from South Africa. There were six from China, France, Italy (2), Korea and Japan(me). Interesting conversation about their research, books, study abroad things, the “Netherland Scond” video, costco and many! I may remember it for many years from now.

Sarahに頼まれて、2/6、50歳以上の高齢者の筋力テストを行いました。今、みんなが使っている万歩計を、体の揺れなどから類推して歩数をカウントするのでなく、実際の筋肉の動きから負荷の強さまで測れるものにしたいそうです。「Smart万歩計」の開発だそうです。


うまくいくといいのですが・・・。それでも、私の友人や友人の友人たちがみんな協力してくれて、19人も参加してくれました。感動しました。当日、来てくれた方も多く、こちらの住民は”好奇心と親切心がいっぱい”な人が多いと改めて思いました。


写真はなかなか撮りにくかったのですが、少しだけ・・・。

あちらの人の方が（比較の問題だが）ひどすぎるので、こちらのあの方はうれしいかと思うと逆で、何だかこのごろとても顔色が悪いように思う。


 


John のJournalに皮肉たっぷりに「何てったてこの国にはAlternative Factってのがあるから・・・」と。バレバレの 嘘をAlternative Factという人が大統領の執務室にいることほど驚くべきことはあまりない。


今日は、米国憲法に違反する疑いのある大統領令を執行しないよう部下に命令した女性のActing司法長官を解雇した。

Why shouldn’t Mr. Andrew Puzder become Secretary of Labor? He has all the qualifications to become a perfect fit for the Trump administration. He’s a billionaire. He pays his employees starvation wages. He receives an enormous amount of corporate welfare as taxpayers are forced to provide food stamps, Medicaid and publicly assisted housing to keep his low wage workers alive. And he knows nothing about the job he is about to take. Sounds like the perfect nominee.

The attacks against democracy in our country are increasingly dangerous. It is difficult to have serious debates on the issues if the president has no respect for truth. Further, Trump and Republican governors are working overtime to suppress the vote and make it harder for poor people, young people, people of color and seniors to participate in elections. As a result of the disastrous Citizens United Supreme Court decision billionaires are now finding it easier to purchase


 


 ‘The Economist’ Just Downgraded the US From a ‘Full Democracy’ to a ‘Flawed Democracy’

And the problem is a lot bigger than Donald Trump.

The United States is no longer a full democracy, according to the highly regarded Economist Intelligence Unit, which each year compiles a Democracy Index that “provides a snapshot of the state of democracy worldwide for 165 independent states and two territories.”


“The US, a standard-bearer of democracy for the world, has become a ‘flawed democracy,’ as popular confidence in the functioning of public institutions has declined,” explains the introduction to the freshly released Democracy Index.


That would be a troubling announcement in any week.


But coming in the first week of the presidency of Donald Trump, a man who has claimed that election systems are “rigged,” who lies about supposed “voter fraud” and who attacks the media outlets who call him out for those lies, the announcement is all the more unsettling.
