歌曲集「3つの歌」の第1曲で、詩はトスカナ地方（イタリア中部・フィレンツェのあたり）の古い詩を、音楽院でフォーレの同僚だったロマン・ビュシーヌが自由に翻案して書いたもの。作曲は1845年頃で、フォーレ20歳のときの美しい歌曲です。

Mimi’s Aria from Puccini’s Opera La Boheme

Giacomo Puccini‘s famous opera, La Boheme is packed full of fantastic arias, like “Che gelida manina.” When Rodolfo reveals to Mimi that he has fallen in love with her, he wants to know all about her. He asks her to tell him something about her and her life. Mimi’s reply begins by telling him she is called Mimi, but her true name is Lucia. Learn the lyrics and English translation below.
